School Rules

  • Every student must carry his almanac and identity card to school each day.
  • Students who come to school on their own should arrive 10 minutes before the bell rings.
  • The first morning bell before a class is a signal for all to go to their respective classrooms. This should be done promptly and silently.
  • Changing of classrooms between periods should be done in an orderly manner and silently.
  • Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions. Students who are slovenly dressed or not in uniform will be sent home.
  • All boys (except Sikhs) must keep their hair short. Girls must tie their hair neatly with a green band.
  • Care must be taken of all school property. No student should damage any school furniture, write or draw anything on the walls. Damage done should be reported at once to the class teacher. Recovery for any damage will be made from the concerned student.
  • No books (other than text books, library books or good story books) magazines or papers should be brought to the school.
  • Lending or borrowing of money or other articles is prohibited.
  • The school is not responsible for the goods lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches, fountain pens, items of jewellery) to school.
  • Students who are escorted to school should never leave before the escort arrives. In case of delay, they should report to the school office.
  • The school reserves the right to suspend students on the basis of indiscipline. Use of fire crackers, Holi colours etc. is prohibited.
  • No attendance would be given to a student during the period of suspension.
  • Parents and guardians of all students should contact the teachers on the PTM days to note the progress of their wards.
  • Parents and guardians must not visit their wards or teachers without prior permission of the Principal.
  • In case of any urgency of meeting class/subject teacher, parent is required to send a note in his ward’s almanac for the concerned teacher to specify a suitable time and date. Under no circumstances will parents be allowed to meet a teacher during her teaching hours. In case of emergency parents can contact the Principal.

Absence

  • Repeated or unexplained absence for more than ten consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls, readmission may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee provided if the vacancy still exists.
  • All children are expected to attend school on the opening day after every vacation. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate before they join the class.
  • It is compulsory for students to complete 75% attendance in the year to make them eligible for promotion to the next class.
  • A child returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious disease should produce a fitness certificate from a doctor.
  • Students suffering from any one of the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class:-
  1. Chicken Pox - Till complete falling of scabs
  2. Cholera – Till the child is completely well
  3. Measles – Two weeks after the rash disappears.
  4. Mumps – Until the swelling has gone.
  5. Whooping cough – Six weeks
  6. Jaundice – Six weeks
  7. Typhoid – Minimum two weeks
  8. Dengue – Till the child is completely well
  9. Swine Flu – Minimum one week

Withdrawals

  • If a child has to be withdrawn from school, or from any school facility, parents are requested to give one calendar month’s notice in writing, failing which, one month’s fee as applicable will be charged in lieu thereof. Exception may be made in case of sudden transfer of government or Military Personnel.
  • Those who leave the school in May must in all cases pay the fees for the month of June.
  • Transfer certificate for children withdrawn are not issued until all dues are settled.

Our of Bound Area
Students are not allowed to enter the staff room and/or residential areas within the school campus.

Birthday Celebration
Birthday are always a special day for students & parents, but school requests the parents to keep the celebration at school simple. Parents are requested not to send cakes/gifts for such celebrations. The school recommends distribution of chocolates (two toffees only) sweets.

Transport Rules

  • Transport facility is available to all the students from Nursery onwards. Our bus routes cater to students from every part of Sirsa.
  • During travel to & from school by school buses the following rules are to be strictly adhered to by the students.
  • Students can only get on/off from their fixed bus stops.
  • Students can only travel by their assigned buses. Even on request, students will not be permitted to do otherwise.
  • At the end of the school days, student should board their respective buses immediately as per prescribed procedure and not move out thereafter.
  • They should remain seated till buses leave.
  • Do not run to the bus but walk in a queue.
  • Do not jump on or off a moving bus, for it is dangerous.
  • Do not push each other when you get on or off the bus.
  • Maintain discipline in the bus as any mischief will disturb the driver.
  • Do not stretch your head or hands out of the bus.
  • Cooperate with the staff on duty and abide by the instructions given by them from time to time.
  • Never stand in front or behind a stationary bus.
  • Any change in the residential address must be intimated to the school authorities.
  • Request for any change in bus route should be given well in advance. No temporary change of bus route is allowed.
  • The name, class and section of the pupil should be clearly marked on all the belongings of the students. Water bottles, blazer and jerseys should also bear the name of the student.
  • Latecomers and uniform defaulters will be sent home.
  • A student who uses unfair means during tests will be given zero in the subject and a warning letter. Repetition of the same will result in dismissal.
  • Students are not allowed to use the school telephone without the permission of the Receptionist. They will not be called to answer phone call during class hours.
  • School appointments will wear their respective badges daily.
  • Students using the school bus will maintain discipline in the bus. Facilities will be withdrawn in cases where discipline is not properly maintained.
  • A sick child should not be sent to school. In case of an emergency, when the school doctor instructs so, the parents will be requested to take the child back.
  • Students are not allowed to go to a relative/friend’s house from school.
  • No birthday gifts in any from are allowed. Distribution of gifts/sweets in the school is banned.
  • The school provides all the necessary equipment for sports activity during the games period. Students are not allowed to bring their own balls, bats, etc. to school.
  • In case a child is absent for more than 2 days due to any illness, a leave application must to sent to the teacher. In case of any other reason of absence prior sanction is to be sought.
  • The school insists on the following measures to be observed by members of staff and all students.
  • Care must be taken to observe the “green rules” in order to maintain clean, green surroundings that is, school premises should not be littered with disposable tumblers, papers or polythene bags.
  1. Delhi Public School students should invariably be polite wherever they go.
  2. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct.
  3. They should greet their teachers when they meet them.
  4. Bullying and use of foul language are punishable offences.
  5. It is expected that the juniors be treated with love and affection, while the juniors show all respect to their seniors.
  6. Students to carry their text/exercise books according to the time table for that day. No extra books are allowed.
  7. School rules can be changed without prior notice or reason.

Disciplinary Measures
The following measures will be adopted to enforce discipline among the students :-

  1. Oral warning and counselling. An oral/verbal warning may be appropriate, when informal counselling does not alter the student’s behavior & the situation warrants moving immediately to formal discipline. The class teachers/school counsellor can give corrective counselling to assist the child.
  2. Written warning. The students is usually given a written warning after he/she has been given a verbal warning and the behavior has not been corrected or has gotten worse.
  3. Fine wherever applicable. A certain amount of fine may be imposed on the student, depending on the act of indiscipline.
  4. Issue of Yellow Cards. A student is put on Yellow card for serious offences, which reflects adversely on his/her conduct e.g. telling lies, disobedience, constantly interrupting the teaching process, indulging in rude and unacceptable behavior in class and the school premises.
  5. Withdrawal of bus facilities for misbehavior in the school bus. Parents will be responsible for dropping their wards to school and picking them up.
  6. Detention. A student will be put on detention for indiscipline in designated rooms during break. The class teachers/School Counsellor will supervise and counsel such students.
  7. Rustication/expulsion as per rules. The Principal shall have the power to rusticate or expel a student for sufficient reasons, including acts of iindiscipline and misconduct. Before rusticating or expelling a student, an enquiry shall be held and a reasonable opportunity shall be given to the student concerned to explain his/her position. As soon as rustication or expulsion of a student takes place, his name shall be removed from the rolls of the school.
